North West, the 11-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, has made a notable entry into the music scene by featuring on FKA twigs‘ latest album, “Eusexua.”
Released on January 24, the album includes the track “Childlike Things,” where North delivers a rap verse in Japanese — and the video is now out.
FKA twigs revealed that the collaboration came about organically.
While revisiting lyrics she had penned during her early teens, her label suggested infusing the song with a youthful energy.
Inspired by North’s confident demeanor in interviews, twigs invited her to contribute to the track. North’s verse, which focuses on her faith and includes lines praising Jesus Christ, adds depth and vibrancy to the song.
This isn’t North’s first foray into music.
In August 2024, she collaborated with her father on the song “Bomb” from Kanye West’s album “Vultures 2,” where she also rapped in Japanese. The music video featured North and her younger sister, Chicago, racing futuristic vehicles in a desert landscape.
Beyond collaborations, North is working on her debut album, “Elementary School Dropout,” a nod to her father’s 2004 debut, “The College Dropout.”
She announced the project during a listening party for “Vultures 2” in March 2024. Kanye has been actively involved in producing the album, expressing his renewed passion for music through this collaboration with his daughter.
Kim Kardashian has been a supportive figure in North’s burgeoning career, sharing the FKA twigs collaboration on her Instagram Stories with the caption, “@fkatwigs ft NORTH out now!”
However, balancing North’s professional pursuits with her childhood has presented challenges. In the season six premiere of “The Kardashians,” Kim discussed the difficulties of managing North’s schedule alongside her own, emphasizing the importance of ensuring her daughter enjoys her youth while exploring her interests.
The collaboration between North and FKA twigs has garnered mixed reactions online.
Some fans praised the unexpected pairing, calling it “fun and camp,” while others questioned the decision to include an 11-year-old on the album. Nevertheless, “Childlike Things” debuted at number six on the charts, marking North’s first top-10 hit.
FKA twigs’ “Eusexua” is described as a “psychedelic, playful exploration of what it is to be human,” blending childlike wonder with gritty undertones.
